The ability to learn is a blessing. Be it learning from life lessons as you pursue your journey or asserting yourself to be further educated. This thing, learning, is gaining knowledge of or skill in something by studying, experience or being taught. Learning is often taken for granted and/or in many cases, never leveraged as knowledge. As an example, how often do you hear that someone didn’t learn from their mistakes; missed opportunities because they failed to study; stalled careers in part because of a lack of exposure and mentoring? The list goes on and on.
Wanting and having the desire to learn is fundamental to being ambitious. Ambition can also equate to determination– some may even say relentless; Overachiever. While I may have self-imposed many of these characteristics, my personality and actions would not have been something I would have aligned with “Forever A Student” in the early days of my life’s journey. I would have considered myself an average student in the classroom. I wasn’t particularly fond of school or the accompanying curriculum. Depending on which segment of my journey we are referencing, I can call out my drivers at the time. From grade school thru high school, my thoughts were to simply grow beyond the place I was in at that time. Passing classes and sports was my ticket. In college, my thoughts were to leverage my scholarships in sports to obtain a degree, continue to excel in athletics if the opportunity exists, but most importantly, to get a job!!
